Hello All,

We are finally in our new “home” here in Huntington and loving it!  If you haven’t been by to see it yet, please stop by when you can.  Our address is listed below. We are all settling in and working on various programs and tasks.

I am in the process of organizing a Resource Center for our new office.  It will be called the Nancy Tonkin Resource Center, and will provide a great service not only to our clients and the community where we are located, but we will also serve outlying counties (Cabell, Putnam, Kanawha, Lincoln, Wayne and Mason).  It is named after child advocate, Nancy Tonkin who, up until her death, was a great supporter of the Children’s Home Society and the families we serve.

We are in need of items to stock our center such as gently used and laundered clothes, food, baby food, diapers, new or like-new toys, books, school supplies, back packs, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, fabric softener, and personal hygiene items.  We are also in need of monetary support to purchase out of stock items for families in immediate need.  This would be our emergency go-to fund for families in need of specific items that we don’t have in our center.

For those of you who are able to help my contact information is listed below.  I am new to the area and I don’t have a large list of community partners at this time and I would appreciate it if you would share this information and help me get the word out.  Please feel free to use the attached flyer.

Thank you!

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”
