ACES & SBIRT Training (Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment)
Teaching an evidence based public health model, which promotes universal screening and intervention for substance abuse risks or abuse.

Learning Objectives:
The participant will be able to identify and acknowledge the role of ACES in their patient population.
The participant will be able to utilize the evidence based SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, & Referral to Treatment) curriculum.
The participant will be able to utilize validated scales correctly as a screening tool and intervention.
The participant will be able to use motivational interviewing tools and techniques to implement a motivational enhancement Brief Negotiated Interview.

Speakers will present on Cabell County’s response to the drug epidemic including the significant and ongoing contribution of the Adverse Childhood Experience study (ACES). Attendees will be trained in the evidenced-based SAMHSA program, SBIRT: Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment. SBIRT teaches trainees to identify and more successfully intervene with individuals with low to high risk substance use. Participants will be provided curriculum free of charge.
