Attention: All Nonprofits With State or Federal Grants, Contracts

Benefiting from Government Grant Reforms: What Nonprofits Need to Know to Be Reimbursed for Indirect Costs

There are an estimated 375 West Virginia Nonprofits with state and/or federal grants and contracts that could be receiving more money. Are you one of them?

In 2014, the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) put new grantmaking rules into effect, but many nonprofits still haven’t taken advantage of them. These new rules require the government to reimburse the nonprofits they hire (or give grant money) for their reasonable indirect costs when federal dollars are part of the funding stream. You may not have considered these rules in the past because your organization doesn’t have a federal grant, but a large percentage of state and local grants and contracts contain money from the federal government, so these new cost-saving rules could still apply!

Sound confusing? Don’t worry – the WVNPA is here to help! Next month, we will partner with the National Council of Nonprofits to bring you two FREE trainings on benefiting from these grant reforms so that your organization can be reimbursed for indirect costs. Who couldn’t use extra money in their budget? See below for more details.
