Cabell Care Trees

Info

Launching in 2026 with support from the United Way of the River Cities, the Cabell Care Trees project provides community members with convenient access to essential household items. Cabell Care Trees are wooden shelving units placed in high-traffic locations commonly visited by low-income families and ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) individuals.

Each Care Tree is stocked with basic necessities that are not typically covered by government assistance programs. Available items may include laundry detergent, diapers, baby wipes, household cleaning supplies, socks, underwear, and menstrual products such as period underwear and cups.

Community members may take what they need during the host site's regular operating hours. No forms, approvals, or staff requests are required. By offering open, judgment-free access, Cabell Care Trees aim to reduce stigma and ensure families can meet essential needs with dignity.

Locations

Locations will be announced and published when the Cabell Care Trees project commences.
