Updated information February 22, 2018

Zero To Three is still working on identifying families to participate in Strolling Thunder, day of advocacy on Capitol Hill.  At this point, there are no family applications from West Virginia.

Feel free to pass this along to other organizations or networks who are in contact with families.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact Amanda Perez at aperez@zerotothree.org.

The deadline for family interest forms is extended until March 2.

As part of our new Think Babies campaign, we’re excited to announce Strolling Thunder 2018  – happening May 8 in Washington, DC!  For this event, ZERO TO THREE will be bringing babies and families from all 50 states to Capitol Hill to meet with their elected leaders face-to-face and share their story about why Congress must #ThinkBabies. We’ll be selecting one family from each state to participate. Look for more information in the email and video below.

There is no experience necessary, but we’d like participants to see themselves as advocates – whether that means speaking up for their child’s needs, or contacting an elected official about an issue. We’d also like them to be willing to spend a small amount of time in the weeks leading up to the trip preparing for their meetings.

ZERO TO THREE will cover all travel costs for a parent, their children under age three, and an adult travel companion to assist with child care. We’ll also provide guidance, training and support to families before and during their trip.

Each family will visit their Senators, as well as their Representative. We have identified a few Representatives from your state who sit on key committees of jurisdiction for early childhood issues, and we are prioritizing families from those districts.

We’re hoping you can identify or refer a parent from Representative Evan Jenkins’ district (mapped here: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/WV/3 ) or Representative David McKinley’s district (mapped here: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/WV/1) who might be a good fit.

If you know someone who fits the bill, please have them fill out this Interest Form no later than March 2: http://www.thinkbabies.org/strollingthunder/interest/.

We will be following up with everyone who expressed their interest by late March to let them know if they have been selected. If you or they have any questions, please see our FAQ or contact Amanda Perez at aperez@zerotothree.org.

We appreciate your help in identifying a family to participate! Please feel free to forward this request to other organizations in your state who may know families who are interested. Thanks so much!

The future begins with babies.

The science is clear that our brains grow faster between the ages of 0 and 3 than at any later point in our lives. When babies don’t get what their growing brains need during this crucial time, it can lead to life-long developmental, educational, social, and health challenges.

ZERO TO THREE designed the Think Babies campaign to promote enriching early experiences and a strong foundation for development from the start. When we Think Babies, we build a better future for us all.
