REGISTER BY AUGUST 21st!

TEAM for West Virginia Children is offering free, regional one-day training sessions for home visitation staff in four locations across West Virginia that will provide the latest information about Our Babies: Safe & Sound and Period of PURPLE Crying.

Purpose:   The purpose of the regional training forums is to equip home visitation staff with the knowledge and latest tools required to provide infant safety information to families in the program areas of Say YES To Safe Sleep For Babies, Keep Your Cool When Baby Cries, and the Period of PURPLE Crying.

At the conclusion of the training, participants will:

  • Be aware of issues surrounding infant safe sleep and shaken baby syndrome prevention nationally and in West Virginia
  • Understand the program components of Say YES To Safe Sleep, Keep Your Cool When Baby Cries, and the Period of PURPLE Crying
  • Learn how to create an organizational culture of prevention through policies, modeling, and messaging, and
  • Be prepared to educate parents about vital infant safety measures

Invited Participants: Home visitation staff working directly with families in the following programs:  Healthy Families America, Maternal Infant Health Outreach Worker, Parents As Teachers and Right From The Start.

Locations, Dates, and Times

The training and materials are free, and lunch will be provided.  Please select the session most convenient for you – please note you do not have to attend the training in your assigned region if another date or location is better for your schedule.

Check-in will begin at 9:30 and trainings will start promptly at 10:00 am.

The registration deadline is Friday, August 21st, 2015 and space is limited to the first 45 people on a first come, first serve basis. Please note there will be no on-site registration.

The Office of Maternal, Child, and Family Health, West Virginia Department Health and Human Resources and TEAM for West Virginia Children are providing support for this training.

 

Application is being made for continuing education credits for this training for registered nurses through the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses (WV 1999-0297), social workers through the WV Board of Social Work (490089) and for early care and education providers through WV STARS.
